Cedar Grove, New Jersey, USA

“Local Coffee” is a visual love letter to a neighborhood coffee shop (Java Love) that’s been a silent witness to over a decade of the artist’s life. It holds memories of snowstorms, goodbyes, homecomings, study sessions, and spontaneous reunions. This piece is both personal and universal—a nod to the everyday sanctuary that a favorite café can become. Tori captures this emotional connection using watercolor, graphic markers, and micron pens, layering memory and mood with every stroke.

About The Artist

Tori Zirul is a self-taught artist who began drawing as a toddler and quietly kept her creations in personal journals for years. In 2021, she began sharing her art publicly and has since received recognition in Light Space & Time’s Botanical and Landscape competitions. Tori had her first-ever solo show at a beloved local café—Cedar Beans—in July 2023. Known for her use of pencil, markers, and a newly discovered love for watercolor, her work blends therapeutic introspection with visual storytelling. She credits her grandfather, Arthur (“Art”), as her earliest artistic influence.

Go-to Coffee Order: Black coffee—simple and classic. Occasionally an almond milk latte when

the mood strikes.
